Back Pain
If you suffer from back pain, you are not alone. In fact, recent research shows that 80-90% of Americans suffer from back pain at some point in their life.
While some back pain may resolve on its own, if you suffer from pain that lasts for more than a couple of weeks or have reoccurring pain, it may be time to see your physical therapist. At Mid America Rehab our physical therapists specialize in the treatment of back and neck pain.
OUr Goal
- Identify the true cause of your pain
- Create a plan for your specific condition
- Restore function and mobility
- Provide you with the education and tools to help prevent future pain and recurrence
what to expect
Physical Therapy for back and neck pain will vary depending on your symptoms. After a thorough initial evaluation your therapist will create a treatment plan customized for your condition.
Typically, you will receive a combination of stretching and strengthening exercises, manual therapies, modalities such as ice, heat, and transcutaneous electrical stimulation, patient education, and a home exercise program. In some cases, options like aquatic therapy and dry needling may be prescribed as well.
Who can benefit from physical therapy
If you suffer from back or neck pain, chances are physical therapy can help. There are a wide range of conditions and sources of back and neck pain. Pain can be injury related, due to posture, or the source may be a genetic condition. When back pain does require surgery, physical therapy is beneficial for healing and prevention of future injury.
Whatever the cause of your pain, talk to your doctor about how physical therapy may help or call us anytime for a complementary screening. At Mid America Rehab you can heal. We can Help.
